Go Green with your deodorant.

If you're already living the Green Lifestyle, then you must be aware of the toxins found in underarm deodorants. And for those of you whose quest have just begun will certainly find Marisa's article very insightful. She discusses the ingredients which should be avoided and also outlines safer alternatives. And for you, the "DIY enthusiasts", here are some suggested  recipes  for you to put to the test.

The good news: There are safer alternatives available today so through some trial you are more than likely to find one that works best for your needs.

My top picks for sustainable deodorants are Miessience Tahitian Breeze and Weleda's Wild Rose. They both serve my needs very well and are also quite affordable.

It's soon approaching 3 years since I've been using the Miessence's Tahitian Breeze and absolutely love this product for a few main reasons. For one, it does not contain parabens, hormone disrupting fragrance, synthetic ingredients, aluminum compounds or other questionable ingredients; secondly, it smells divine -- very botanical.  It's also safe for use on children.  They are available in 3 varieties: Aroma-free, Tahitian Breeze and Ancient Spice.

Weleda's Wild Rose Deodorant also smells divine. If you love the smell of roses then you'll love this one.  It comes in two sizes --  a small which resembles a travel size and  ideal for persons on-the-go while the larger  version in my opinion,  will pretty much last forever!  The latter would be a better option for more active individuals since you'll be using it way more often. This isn't the typical roll on or stick formula and moreso reminds me of a delicate perfume due to the mist feature. I love the fact, that while it comprises of  a fresh, florally scent, it is still not overpowering. Amazon stocks these at an unbeatable price -- $7.50 for the small while the larger version is priced at $12.75. Check 'em out!

Dan Shapley from the Daily Green News Blog has brought to us this very enlightening article entitled, "9 Natural deodorants that really work."  Check it out here!   I'm happy to see my two favorites, "Miessence and Weleda" listed in the top 9. Yay!

The dangers of anti-perspirant are definitely cause for concern, in my honest opinion, and finding a Natural deodorant that actually works can be a daunting task so I'm truly happy that I was able to put this post together for you all.

If you've experienced amazing results with a specific formula, then please feel free to share the link of your review in the comments section of my blog.  I would love to hear what works for you.

I love using baking soda for deodorant too, but I suffer from hyperhidrosis, which causes me to sweat (liquid not just odor) like crazy. Baking soda does great with the odor, but leaves me wet. I recently found this new product called Hyper-Dri sold by Klima Deodorant (www.klimadeodorant.com) which is the world's first aluminum-free antiperspirant. It is the only healthy alternative to aluminum based antiperspirants. I just wanted to share this with my fellow readers :)

Thanks

Cyndi

Thank you for taking the time to share what works for you. I have never heard of Klima until now and I am glad to learn that it's also aluminum-free. I'm sure this will be useful info. for readers who also suffer from hyperhidrosis.
